A baluster is a small non structural turned pillar which is bigger than a stair spindle. These are mainly used for terraces, galleries, balcony’s and grand staircases to support a large handrail. Balusters are usually found in larger property’s such as mansions and country houses etc.
Porch post is a structural usually turned post that supports an entrance porch. Usually found in Edwardian and Victorian property’s.
